Spring Rainstorms

It's finally raining here and that is good news for the farmers! I welcome the rain too, after a dry spell in the spring-it washes away the coating of yellow pollen and muddy cat tracks on my car. For some reason not known to me, my husband just loves to sit outside on an old style lawn chair to watch the rain come in and hear the thunder roll in the sky, he's taught our boys to appreciate that as well so I'm taking a bit of time to post this card.
This layout for this card came from Sketchy Thursdays Second Chance Challenge sponsored by the Lawn Fawn Stamps. The colors came from the latest Curtain Call Color Challenge. I really enjoyed working with the layout and the colors, because they were truly a challenge, but for some reason I didn't hit the mark with my overall card. I almost didn't post this, but I figured I would try to reach out and attempt to get some feedback? Do I have too many patterns? Is the scale not right? Is the balance of colors off? Please help!

  2. Karen I really have no idea what you're talking about. The colours are great and well balanced. The prints aren't too busy. I really like what you did with the white gel pen. Maybe lighter sponging around the edges? or adding a bit of the swirly at the bottom as well? I can't visualize it with actually trying it. Either way I think this card looks fabulous.

  3. I think this card is great! Colors and layout all balance out beautifully :) Thanks so much for your comment on my blog and for giving me a fantastic idea! If I used the repositional glue dots, then the recipient could use the guitar picks, they would just have to easily rub off the glue dot!! You're brilliant!!!!!!

  7. Fabulous card! :)
You did a great job at incorporating the color scheme. I love the gems. And I love the dimension with the butterfly antennas and the button! So cute!

  8. You NAILED the challenge! If I didn't read what you wrote, I wouldn't have thought you didn't like it or struggled with it. However with that said, sometimes a card just doesn't turn out the way you/we had envisioned it...maybe that's the reason. I do love how you used the colors and that flourish is just fabulous for the design!! Awesome card, Karen!!

  9. I think it looks great! The only thing that I could see ... after looking at it for a minute because you asked for feedback... is maybe moving the butterfly up a little to cover up a little more of the woodgrain piece... maybe it would balance it out more if you think it isn't balanced!?!? I really think it is great though! I really had to 'look' for something just to give you feedback! :) I think it is probably just the sketch.. maybe it is a little too much going on for your taste? It would be for me anyway!

  13. HI Karen-I love all your work! And I think one is always overly critical of their own work! I am that way also. Pam calls the one little thing that one doesn't like or was what they consider a mistake a God's Eye. It is an Amish saying! Rock also loves the rain and power of thunder and lightning. He will get up in the middle of the nite to watch! And always reminds me to wake him up if it wakes me up and not him!! Haha! Take care Karen! Love ya! Jean
